The debate between rationalism and
empiricism is that rationalism is that the ideas come from our self and our
thoughts. Empiricism ideas come without someone thinking, so it just comes out
the way you say it.
I argue with rationalism that some ideas
are innate. The ideas that are innate are God, why bad things happen? and the
natural courses of life. We aren’t able to explain God because we don’t know if
he truly exists. Also explaining why bad things happen is irrelevant because no
one knows how it happened. Natural
courses of life would be an idea because everything happens for a reason. These three ideas can’t derive from
experience because no one has seen God and there is no proof. Also, we don’t
know when things will happen to us because that is how the world is.
For the explanatory breadth the
rationalism explain the origin of more ideas than the other. The idea that the
other theory fails to address is about God because we aren’t able to describe
how he work things because no one seen him.
For explanatory depth rationalism does
explain the origin of certain ideas that the other theory. Rationalism is more
reasonable and logic. Also no one has had experienced seeing God.
For simplicity empiricism have fewer
parts because the idea can be given the wrong answer because different people
experience it differently. Empiricism is more complex is that it’s difficult to
grasp because experience changes. Rationalism would simple because because the ideas are made up of the person.
For conservation, empiricism is more
consistent with our current beliefs. The beliefs that are more current are that
people think before they speak. If you don't think before you speak, you sometimes say things you don't actually mean.
1. Rationalism and Empiricism are the most
plausible explanations of where ideas come from.
2. Rationalism has much more explanatory depth,
explanatory breadth, conservatism, and simplicity.
3. Therefore, Rationalism is the best
explanations of where the ideas come from.
I disagree that only rationalism explains God as described in the class reading we use the experience from interacting with people and the wish for some higher being to feel like some one is watching over us like a parent. Through our interactions with people we learn about good qualities in people and apply them with no limitations like people to the supernatural being we created through ideas.
