What Makes You Diligent

1.      All diligence are a virtue .

2.      All means to an end is diligence .

3.      Therefore, all diligence is a virtue.

What makes diligence a great virtue that everyone should strive to develop? To become a diligent person it takes the full heart, mind and soul to accomplish what you have set for yourself. Only certain people naturally have these characteristics but everyone can strive to obtain them.

Diligence varies from the virtues that were discussed in the text and class in numerous ways. To begin justice, wisdom, courage and moderation are all forms of being strong willed without an end goal in sight. These virtues are all apart of us in one way or another. We don’t have to find the greater meaning in them. Unlike these, diligence is something that we all have to work up to and perfect on our personal level; no matter how great or slim it may be.

Some may argue that diligence comes naturally in all of us and there is no need to perfect this skill. I on the other hand disagree with the assumption. A skill isn’t necessarily given it’s something that we have to learn and develop. Diligence is one of the many characteristics that we use to discover ourselves and what we want to accomplish.

A diligent person is someone that knows the steps to achieving their goal more efficiently than someone that isn’t diligent. When you develop diligence you have a plan for what your final result is and you are able to track how far you are from it. Depending how far or close you are to your goal you can change what you may have to do to reach it more efficiently. Everyone is able to achieve goals yet someone who is diligent will achieve it in a set about of time and higher standard.

To conclude it is a curtail characteristic that everyone needs to develops. If you are diligent you will always have an end goal in sight and it will help us work on our skills with one another. Diligence is the power to know what we want to do and the steps needed to get to accomplish that task at hand.

  2. I agree diligence is something that you have to build yourself. I also feel it goes hand in hand with self control. If someone is diligent in their studies their end goal is to get into a good school or get a job. There is an enormous need for self control as they might be tempted to party or watch television instead of studying to pass an exam that is a step in the direction that they want to go in. They are quite similar to the point of almost being the same thing. Though I think you stated very good examples in support of diligence being a virtue

  3. I agree with you on how diligence is something we all should strive for, how can we really ever accomplish what ever our goals are with out a set plan and going through with that plan, our goals will never just automatically get done.
