Ambition is the Key

1.     All success is virtuous.

2.     Ambition is what gets you success.

3.     Therefore, ambition is virtuous.

Ambition is what drives people to be successful in life. Ambition empowers us to try and try again even when things get tough.  By definition, ambition is the strong desire to do or achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work. Ambition is a virtue to me because I know that without ambition nothing is handed to you in life and nothing comes easy. During my first few weeks of college, I have already noticed the people who have the ambitious virtues I consider important to have in your life, and those who do not and are just going through the motions.

      My beliefs are simple, you have to work your hardest to live the best life possible in the future and it all starts with being ambitious in becoming a better person and a successful person. I grew up living next to a neighbor who sells heroin, and I’ve seen how un-ambitious people can be in wasting their lives away one needle at a time and this knowledge of how the other side lives is what drives me to do everything I can to ensure that I live a better life than what I’ve grown up seeing next door. My main goal in life is to be able to say that I did it; I graduated college and created the life I’ve always wanted. When I graduate in 2018, I will be the first generation of a college graduate in my family, and this is a reason I am ambitious and consider it to be a virtue.

Ambition isn’t solely about making the most money and having the nicest things, but in my eyes, ambition is being the best person for yourself and others.  The ambition to be a better person and to provide a good life for yourself and your family is the most important virtue to me. Without the ambition to do great things in life, you might end up like the people next door.
