Do not Forget About Stubbornness

Virtues are good qualities which make up a person Such as honesty, wisdom or justice. Stubbornness while not a common trait that is broadcasted as a virtue, it is something that that everyone should develop as they go through their daily lives.

Stubbornness is the ability to perceiver and follow through with a promise, task or project even though it may require more time, thought or effort than previously thought and working through the difficulty. It is different than other virtues because through stubbornness you can develop the other virtues such as wisdom and courage along with other virtues. For example if you want to get better at something such as something as small as a game of chess. That will never happen if you just give up and quit. By being stubborn and keep playing games and researching strategies you will progressively improve while gaining knowledge even though it’s on something as little as a game.

Stubbornness is also different because it is something that you have to instill in yourself and can’t be taught by someone else unlike wisdom, justice or honesty. Wisdom is gained from talking to others and reading while justice and honesty are what we are taught is right. Stubbornness depends on the person’s motivation and can only developed through life’s experiences and challenges. Some may easily give up, while others are not so easily discouraged as it all depends on the person.

  1. All repetition of actions until a desired outcome is reached is stubbornness.
  2. All desired outcomes reached are repeated actions
  3. Therefore all desired outcomes are from stubbornness

  1. overcoming any obstacle or task is stubbornness
  2. and all triumphs are from overcoming such obstacles
  3. so all triumphs are because of stubbornness.

Stubbornness also known as perseverance is a virtue that is not often mentioned. Yet it is something that is a very good and respected trait.

  1. Revised argument:
    Dedication is virtuous
    stubbornness is dedication
    therefore stubbornness is virtuous

  2. I absolutely agree with this as a person who possess this trait I think its necessary to have, if at first you felt some thing about a certain topic or decision you shouldn't make others sway you because in the end they might of been the one to be wrong.
